So, how did Berens celebrate the end of his competitive career? By splurging at the McDonald's in the Olympic Village.

Berens' celebratory retirement meal included two Quarter Pounders with cheese, one Big Mac, six-piece chicken nuggets, two orders of French fries and a chocolate sundae.

This gold medal effort totaled approximately 3,500 calories. Not to mention about 160 grams of fat.

Berens likes to run in high achieving circles, as his gold medal relay teammates include Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte.

In addition, his longtime girlfriend Rebecca Soni won the 200-meter breaststroke, in world record time Thursday.
