British Bookmaker Posts Odds On Usain Bolt For 2016

British Bookmaker Posts Odds On Usain Bolt For 2016Famed British bookmaker William Hill has posted betting lines on a possible three-peat by Usain Bolt at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Bolt, who won six gold medals in six events, during both 2008 and 2012, will be nearly 30 when the Rio de Janeiro Games begin on August 5, 2016.

Hill posted the following lines:

3-1 that Bolt will win no medals.

5-4 that he will win one medal.

6-4 that he will win two medals.

16-1 that he will win three gold medals for the third straight Olympics.

The Jamaican star is 6-4 to win the 100 meters and 2-1 to win the 200.

Bolt, who has an annual $9 million contract from Puma, is expected to earn well over $20 million this year.

One more interesting Bolt note to consider.

Beginning in 1976, an international rivalry involving American and Caribbean sprinters got underway. In years when the 100 meters was won by an American man, a Republican won the presidential election the following November.

Whenever a Caribbean-born sprinter was victorious, the Democrat won the following November election.

Neither country/region participated in the 1980 Moscow games.

Backers of President Obama should see this as a good omen.
