Chinese Swimmers Strike It Rich

Sun Yang and Ye Shiwen named Zhejiang Model WorkerThe US Olympic Committee went to great lengths in publicizing its honorariums to London Olympic medal winners, including a payment of $25,000 for capturing a gold medal.

Somehow, we believe that swimmers from China will not be very impressed.

Sun Yang, who won two gold medals and broke the world record in the 1500 meters, was named "Zhejiang Model Worker" and given a check for about $410,000 US (2.6 million Yuan).

Ye Shiwen, who also won two gold medals in London, received the same title, as well as approximately $284,000, this according to the national news agency in China, Xinhua.

Zhejiang is the home province of both Sun and Ye.
