The Precipitous Fall Of Oscar Pistorius

Oscar Pistorius large amounts of weapons and alcohol at condoJust five months ago, double amputee Oscar Pistorius returned home to South Africa as a worldwide hero, after winning two gold medals in the Paralympics, while also competing in the 2012 London Olympics. Pistorius was an international star and a symbol of hope for many around the world. Now, the 26-year-old sits in a Pretoria, South Africa jail cell, accused of the premeditated murder of his model-girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

Tuesday, as Steenkamp's funeral was taking place, federal prosecutors charged Pistorius with premeditated murder. The claim states that after an argument, the Olympian attached his prosthetic legs, walked across his condo and shot Steenkamp four times, while she was hiding in the bathroom.

Investigators found large amounts of weapons and alcohol, as well as steroids in the condo. The chief magistrate will rule on Wednesday whether or not Pistorius is eligible for bail.

Pistorius' major sponsors (Nike and Oakley) have distanced themselves from the South African sprinter.

We never knew about this dark side of Pistorius, which has forever tainted his athletic achievements. Has any athlete ever fallen from grace so rapidly?
