David Beckham Choosing Royalty Over Galaxy

On April 29, the much-ballyhooed Royal Wedding will take place in Westminster Abbey and Los Angeles will be represented. When Prince William and Kate Middleton tie the knot in London, David Beckham and his wife Victoria (Posh Girl Spice) will be among the invited guests in spite of the fact that Beckham's team, the LA Galaxy, also have an important game that weekend.   

Beckham plans to fly 10,000 miles, back across the Atlantic, the day after the wedding and hopes to play for the Galaxy on Sunday in a key showdown against FC Dallas. He has coach Bruce Arena's permission to make the trip and will sit out if Arenas believes he is too tired due to all the travel. When asked about Beckham's availability on Sunday, a testy Arenas growled:  "Why are you worried about that?  Ask me something about soccer.  I do not comment about his social calendar." According to Forbes Magazine, Beckham has made $40 million in salary, bonuses, and endorsements in each of the past two seasons. Yet, attending the Royal Wedding seems to be a higher priority than playing in a crucial game for the Galaxy.
