Bojana Jovanovski's Accidental Trip To New Mexico
Serbian tennis star Bojana Jovanovski, 19, was entered in the Mercury Insurance Open. Last Sunday, her flight itinerary took her from Washington DC, through Dallas, Albuquerque, and finally Carlsbad.
Upon her arrival in Carlsbad, Jovanovski waited in the baggage claim area for tournament organizers to give her a ride. As the terminal emptied, she called the tournament headquarters and was told that her driver was looking for her at the San Diego International Airport.
"I am the only one here," said Jovanovski during the call.
It was only then that she realized that the open was in Carlsbad, California, and her travel agent had ticketed her to Carlsbad, New Mexico.
The Serbian slept in the airport and took the first flight out the next morning, arriving at the tournament in California about 30 minutes before her scheduled match, which she lost in three sets.
Jovanovski is entered in next week's tournament in Toronto, but unfortunately for her travel agent, there are seven cities named Toronto in the USA, as well as the large one in Canada. Bon Voyage!
